“Esaret 1916” is the story of a hero who fought fiercely against the Russians on the Eastern Front, only to fall into the hands of the Muscovites and endure a life of exile and captivity. Ahmet Onbaşı, who lived between 1890 and 1961, experiences a daring escape after his captivity begins in train cars and returns to Turkey. He joins the ranks of the National Struggle and participates in the War of Independence. Upon his return to his village, he is unaware of what awaits him. In the meantime, he experiences the devastating 1939 Erzincan Earthquake, unable to keep track of his losses… “Esaret 1916” is the story of how he overcame hardships with his strong will and enthusiastically joined the defense of his homeland once again.
